A Screened-In Porch

There’s nothing like a screened-in porch To help me to relax. It brings to me a comfort My apartment surely lacks. The birdsong and the swishing leaves, The swaying of the trees, Combined with the caresses Of the gentle summer breeze All add up to such a fine retreat That, on this lovely day, Every stressor in my life is somehow Swatted clean away.

They keep those darn mosquitos out, as your last line reads. My aunt used to have a screened porch in the country and if you sat quietly in her rocking chair long enough, you would see deer. Now, I have often seen deer but watching them in a meadow from a screened in porch around 5:00 pm becomes more serene to me. What a tranquil poem. I enjoyed it so.

This poem ended on the right note. You don't have to swat if your porch is enclosed. Enjoy with a cup of tea

Just keep those gentle breezes blowing, as well. Lovely! ~ Gershon

A lovely poem, Ilene. I couldn't agree more. Right now, the sound of cicadas and tree frogs disturb the silence. But I'll take it. Enjoy the evening on your screened in porch my friend.
