A Sad Remembrance

I kiss her red honeyed lips She allows the milk of my iniquity to wash over her The pain of her sadness washes away my cruelty I leave my rifle at her feet November 11, 2016

Love the depth, profound verses that point to violence and why it should be avoided. As always, your verses ring true and have meaning..

Richard...I must say, this is quite enigmatic. I guess my mind is in the gutter...the "milk" of my iniquity had me thinking naughty thoughts. I read your explanation to Rhoda. Intense.

Yes, it is cryptic for me if this is the one you were telling me about. I wish I were better at understanding this kind . It "feels' really great!! (I just read your note to Rhoda. I was right. I'd never have gotten this on my own!)

Rifles indeed make people become harsh...The warmth of a woman...makes that harsh heart remember there can still be love...So deep ..the message.

Red lips are poppies representing death. The lady is the Statue of Liberty. The iniquity is all of her children lost to senseless war. Laying down the rifle is the realization that war leads to war not peace. I hope this provides some insight.
