A Risky Autumn Walk

I was debating with myself whether
to go for a walk,
You know, one of those silly kinda
talk,
At first, my mind said yes and then no,
My feet, though they were aching,
said, “No excuses, let’s go”.

Cautiously, I walked through the
 tree-lined country lane,
The cobblestone pathway was
full of bends and curves,
Going out just after it had rained,
probably wasn’t sane,
I murmured, Walking cheers you up
and might help my arthritic pain,
hoping to calm my nerves.

Slow and steady was my pace,
too afraid to chance a brisk,
The fresh scent left by the rain was
crisp and refreshing,
The touch of a gentle breeze played
 with my hair,
Oh, that passing autumn breeze
was a mischievous tease.

As I sat sipping my cup of warm
ginger tea,
I recalled the sounds of the birds' tweeting and the sadness from
seeing the russet, orange and yellow leaves falling from the trees, a
reminder of autumn’s harshness,
Yes, the wet leafy surface was risky,
But with less pain in my feet now,
that Autumn walk was a worthy
risk.

A mundane urge can turn into a spectacular event, regardless of the risk taken, considering human frailty. Nature and human interaction, so vivid and personal. Meaningful, Zyrool!...ab

Hi Zyrool, this has been indeed a beautiful experience as I understand from your narration. Though it was risky walking through the cobbled path after the rains, it was worth it. Beautiful imagery. Enjoyed reading it.

Zyrool, the way you talk to yourself and express your inner thoughts has a great deal of charm. You're showing many of us how to think about our actions in terms of evaluating risk vs reward. I did like that there were multiple factors to consider. You made it a fun read! Smiles!!!

Beautiful depiction of Autumnal walk, Zyrool ! Hmm- ginger tea ! I believe ginger is good for arthritis. You have an interesting name : what does it mean, if I may ask. Sounds like a mix between Greek & Arabic... ( PS. Autumn in the UK was like mid-winter for me. Brrr )

Thank you so much for your lovely words, Ghairo. The name is Arabic. Don’t know what it means. Yes Autumn does have a winter feel at times. Hence the cup of warm ginger tea. Have a beautiful day, my friend.

Hey Zyrool, It feels less like a performance and more like a genuine moment of wrestling with yourself, which is what makes it so relatable. You also did a great job connecting the physical experience with the sensory details. It makes the final feeling of relief and "worthy risk" feel truly earned. Autumn Blessings, Zyrool, Daniel
