A Rainy Day
What we would give to hear the sound
of rain on the roof or window pane.
to a desert-dweller, magic found
even in thunder's narcissistic vein.
Look! A cloud turns purple and dark,
as others form, disguising blue sky.
encompassing storm's angry mark
that gentle raindrops will soon belie.
Iridescent drops soft as silken skin.
Slowly mesmerized, we softly slide
'neath feathered comfort to our chin.
Peaceful sailing on Nature's tide.
Is there a sound as soothing to hear?
First very soft, then pounding fast.
Gently they blow a kiss to our ear,
and notes soften as dreams are cast.
