A Prayer

Whether our mode is That of sound or silence, Individual or collective, Whether our appeal, as we think, Is mediate or immediate, Whatever be the medium, And whatever the belief, Humans, believers at any rate, Seem to have two polarizers— Marjara nyaya and Markataka nyaya: God comes to us or we go to God. If someone is a non-believer, It’s another proposition. Anyway, pragmatically speaking, Every positive thought is surely a form of prayer. And the present is precious Rather than the past— Or the future (here or elsewhere, now or later), Which seems to lie in the lap of the future! Last but not least, Newton’s Third Law Or Emerson’s Law (of Compensation) Or the Law of Karma, call it what you will, Works—eventually, if not immediately or apparently. Hence, this prayer— Let’s remember: It takes all sorts to make a world!
