A Paradigm Shift

Listen, John, if you want a paradigm shift
May I recommend that you incentivize,
Or better still, leverage your poetry skills—
Or, globalize them beyond the parameters
Of the current norms…okay, friend?

And when you have done a fact check
I think you will see the bottom line is never
As robust as you thought it was…certainly
Poetry is never going to be the “in” thing
Latest stats say you'll need better rubric!

A clever, very different approach to the prompt. I love the risk taking. Congrats.

It was a bit complicated, I admit, but I realized he wanted a poem filled with business "buzzwords," so that's what I wrote. Sometimes you hit; sometimes you miss.

Very well deserved.

This is enormously true "Poetry is never going to be the “in” thing"

Ah, so true, yes. But, you know I write for me. I used to want to make some money with it, and I sold a few many years ago, but never enough to pay the light bill.

You got that right, Gershon. I just hope people are beginning to realize that we could destroy the most beautiful places on earth if we're not careful with our use of natural resources. I hear the Amazon jungle is now endangered, and I want so badly to visit there before it is gone.

Oh dear... when I told my bank manager I wanted a loan to see me through until my poetry royalties come flooding in, he poured himself a very large whisky. Unfortunately, he spat most of it out because he was trying to drink and laugh at the same time.... Charming! ;-) Terry

Hmmm...why am I not at all surprised. I've yet to know a banker who appreciated my poem-writing talents! LOL

haha, who is John. Is it a Doe? this is hilarious, Milt!! I learned long ago how sadly LITTLE poetry is valued in the world. My greatest success with it did not even get me a dime! Good one.

It's a Doe, Andrea, although it is funny that it is John Lawless who is sponsoring the contest. You are so on target. All the poetry I have sold would not buy me dinner at a decent restaurant. LOL

thanks for my win. I was very surprised, and happily so
