A New Year Sonnet

It is the New Year once again.
We have to let the old year die.
Ring out the bells over the fen...
What a mess the old year has been,
but cheers of joy replace our sigh,
and fireworks' colors soon are seen.

Children are our new tomorrow
in the new year about to dawn.
Many children I do follow
In precious time of midnight, now.
Of last year's worries we are shorn.
To January let us bow.

It is the New Year once again.
Children are our new tomorrow.
