A New Song
(Inspired by ‘His eye is on the sparrow’)
What is this new song you have learned?
Which brings elation to your face?
Teach me the new dance you display
So I may join in your mystic joy.
This elation is not of earthly origin
But made of substance all divine,
His wings are over me as I live
Like all the sparrows high above.
Like the deer learns to leap on land
Like the new star which now glows
I have found freedom in this captivity.
