A New Day
The new day brings refreshing
light to all it touches
Flowers begin to stir as they
ready to open their pedals
A dragonfly shakes dew from its wings
in preparation for flight
Two lovebirds nestled together for warmth
prepare to leave their sanctuary
Geese in flight seek out a field for
a well deserved rest and feeding
A doe and her tiny fawn peek out of
the thicket that sheltered them for the night
Fish in the pond begin to stir as the
suns warmth strikes the water's surface
We stir in our beds as the morning light
winds its way through our bedroom shutters
As the world awakens to this new day
all creatures that share this beautiful
planet join in silent hope that this day
will usher in the beginning of the peace
and tranquility that here to fore has eluded us
May this new dawn be the beginning of the realization
by mankind that this planet is to be shared by all
and that mutual respect for all life is our only hope
