A Naive Heart

A naïve heart listens to words of hope, susceptible to the promise of love. But when fragile feelings walk a tightrope, all it takes is an emotional shove. Hope steadied your every step from the start, yet your anxieties intensified. And like a festering wound in your heart, betrayal pushed trust's safety net aside. You'll never be so gullible again, having felt the sting of love lost to time. Yet, acknowledging love can inflict pain does not make it feel any less sublime. And though a hurting heart might disagree, you can't cage love; it will die if not free.

Passion the most intense of the emotions, not to be fooled with. God's love the purest will heal the young, wounded hearts! Your message a warning. Enjoyed your sonnet

Your conclusion is well stated and well taken, Emile. Love has to be free, but it has to be committed, I think. Superb writing, as always, my friend.
