A Monster - My Love Part V

The words of the young bush Had struck a chord inside my heart Yet unrehearsed, hopeless and in despair Couldn’t throw away this love, this sacred part To break these chains around my soul, I stood In front of you, chest wide, wanting to say ‘I never, ever want to see you again’ But my tongue doesn’t flinch, heart doesn’t obey The confusion on your face, about the sorrow in my eyes Your right hand on my shoulder as you envelop me in your arms Tears threaten to drip, yet your sweet smell once again Makes me forget all the loveless, traps me in your charms Holding onto this fragile thread, bound to break Hopelessly attached, I couldn’t find the courage to let go Your hand still on my shoulder makes me feel things I can’t explain Other hand in mine, mind in trance, my brain becomes hollow I realize your tricks, how you play with my heart Without even being aware, how you mess me up Making me battle for your attention, and award me With soft, gentle hugs, never giving me enough So innocent yet so cruel, for trapping me In these chains, I can’t escape A heartless beast like yourself Doesn’t deserve my love anyway Your heart was won by someone else Yet I continue to fight in this battle I’d never win Too strong this love has become, it’s no longer in my control For I can’t understand my own heart, or who I am from within Your beauty, your softness, your ecstasy may never stop enticing me My heart may only beat for you, as you continue to play it without a thought What would you a call someone who ruthlessly taunts a lovesick puppy With its wildest dreams and groundless hope? A monster, that’s what.
