A Mission of Light

He rides all night, on a mission of Light A stranger come, preaching Healing and Love Rough men gawk and they stare; this isn't right They push him down to the ground with a shove... He picks himself up and he scrapes off the mud It's started raining now; he's gotten soaked His mouth's started trickling a stream of blood Still he gathers himself, for the Cause woke Decrying vi'lence, he gently pleads Peace To take a step back, calm all the way down As he yet speaks, all the riotings cease The guns go still; not a noise in the town A smile, coy, plays at the edge of his lips Tonight there will be no Apocalypse

If only more people would open their eyes and hearts to the light. I give you praise for these lines, Gershon

That's the ticket, Jenna: Opening one's eyes, mind, and heart... Staying pliable in ye olde cranium!! … Easier said than done though. Thanks, Gershon

Reg. your hope for s/o to calm the masses: I was just thinking today of how different America might have been had MLK and RFK not been shot dead back in 1968. Something to ponder... Thanks, Gershon

Indeed, any peace, any expression of love, no matter how seemingly small to us, is monumental to God! Great writing Gershon! Love it.

Yes. We need diplomats who have backbone, but know when to be flexible. They need to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em, as the old country song went... :) gw

A wonderful sonnet to show what can happen if we advocate peace.

Yes, and let us do so, i.e., advocate for peace (and quiet: I need to get some sleep, midst all the firecrackers these days. lol). Smiles, Gershon
