A Meat and Potatoes Man

My dad was a meat and potatoes man
Stuff like quiche, wine and cheese he couldn’t stand

                   Mom once served him Chinese
Dad said, “Mom, if you please

Dump that lo mein in a foreign trash can”

Calling my dad a curmudgeon, eh? ... Like father, like son. ~ Mud Gin

There are some people both men and women who won't even try something different. I have that in my family with my grandchildren. I have two grandsons who have allergies and I think that somehow it is related to that. I have a great granddaughter when she was young would seem to enjoy such a large variety of food, now, she won't even touch some things that she once ate. Go figure. Great poem reminding me of how food likes and dislikes can be so situational. Sara K.

Ha, ha, ha. That's my father you are laughing at, friend. (It's alright. People laughed at him. Now they laugh at me, his first-born. All in the family.)

This poem is an excellent, punchy piece of comedic character storytelling. - Great work!
