A Mask In Times Like These
In times like these, I wear a mask
In times like these, I have to ask
What lay behind the veiling drape
Not just infection to escape
Intentions chaste and pure of heart
A smile for laughter yet to start
The sorrow of a soul in pain
The rage of one who’s barely sane
It seems we all hide feelings well
We show the world what we would sell
In other times, it’s quite a task
Yet now, we wear a simple mask
So strange, in distance to be seen
That even eyes offer no screen
We’ve very few means to express
Save for the cloth with which we dress
