A Little Rain
I’ve been feeling kind of dry
The sun is burning in the sky
I’ve been walking through the pain
I’d love to feel a little rain
I’ve been trudging many a mile
Trying to hold on to my smile
And though I don’t like to complain
I’d love to feel a little rain.
I’ve been feeling kind of parched
I fear I’m starting to lose heart
Let not my efforts be in vain
I’d love to feel a little rain
There is still so far to go
How much further, I don’t know
I’m losing much more than I gain
I’d love to feel a little rain
I’ll take the thunder and the lightning
Though it seems so very frightening
If it means moisture for the grain
I’d love to feel a little rain
I’ll take the clouds in any form
I’ve weathered many a raging storm
To soothe my heart, my soul, my brain
I’d love to feel a little rain
I’ve been dying deep inside
The sun leaves no place I can hide
Don’t know if I can take the strain
I’d live to feel a little rain
So, step by step and day by day
I hike along my arid way
My cross to bear, my ball and chain
I’d love to feel a little rain.
While I don’t mean to complain
It all seems so inhumane
But here I am, here I remain
I’d love to feel a little rain.
