A Little Boy
A Little Boy is
Jelly on his face
Dirt under his nails
A patch on his knee
String trailing from
One pocket and
A frog in the other
A little boy is
A bag of marbles in
His right hand and
Licorice in the left
He’s a cowboy today
And a spaceman tomorrow
He’s mud puddles and
Clothespin boats
A Mother’s joy
And her sorrow
A little boy is the angel with
Scrubbed face and tired smile
Who blesses mommy and daddy
In his prayers every night
And he’s the arms that
Hug you tight
As you tuck him
Into bed and
Kiss good night
