A Letter To My Future Self
Hello, how are you?
Do you still exist on earth?
If so, what kind of air are you breathing now?
How is your family?
What about your sister and family? Are they safe and fine?
Has your son gone to pursue his cherished dreams?
Does your dad's golden words of wisdom still echo in your heart?
Do you still remember your loving friends -
old, new, and other poetic friends?
Do you connect with them still?...I hope so..
Does your wrinkled face still wear that tender smile?
The same smile that once spread the warmth of love to your loved ones...
Are you content with your simple life with whatever little dreams you achieved?
Are music and poetry still the languages of your soul?
I hope your mind's rhythms of melody still evoke you to sing its sweet soulful songs...
And how is your muse? Still playing hide and seek with you at times?
Has your voice been heard through poetry?
Do you still speak to your Lord in your prayers? Are all your prayers answered by Him?
Do you get sound sleep now...at this age...?
If so, do you still get those chimerical dreams in which you used to fly high to a perfect paradise and bask in its peace...?
Please say Yes to the last question even if the answer is a No...
I know you are smiling now...
