A house is not a home

When living all alone A house is not a home Just empty rooms where memories remain. The one you love has gone Still you soldiered on Believing someday you'll meet again. As time passes by You look towards the sky Searching for an answer to your prayer. Praying the one you love Is there with God above Safely in his love and tender care.

Hi Diane, most of my loved ones have passed on, the only comfort is believing we'll meet in heaven when the time comes.

Houses and hearts are similat, ib familes or with frinds, oh the jot friends have in killing you! YES. If you can avoid know it all friends. A house you can move away from. But your heart know you can’t it stays with you. There’s nothing to put in it to make it nicer. They just stab you and run away laughing in the night.. pangie xx

Very nice!! ... Once knew a man who lost his wife. He was kind of a saint, actually. Gave away all his money to the poor and such. Well, I gave him a ride 'home,' late one night. Drove up to his house. He looked at me crying and said, "This is not my house. I don't know where I live anymore." ... HIs wife had passed away eight months earlier. He was sincere. I let him off at a synagogue. He probably slept in there (every night). ~ gw

Touching John! I can relate well to this poem! I had to learn to let go of the dead and live with the living more importantly, to LOVE the living. If I had not, my life would have been bittersweet and devoid of happiness. Hugs.Pangie

Hello John, I could feel each verse echo the hollow ache of solitude of loss and longing. We feel the weight of absence and the resilience of hope. Your poem beautifully shows the bittersweet dance between earthly memories and heavenly aspirations, touching hearts with its raw honesty. Autumn Blessings, MY Dear Friend, Daniel

Hi sister Beryl, it's those memories that keep me going, we are still together in spirit that will never die.

I agree s house is not a home without your loved one around. Your children grow up and get married and even Christmas is not the same any more either, no presents that santa brought are under the lit up tree . John I dread that my husband or myself, one of us will die and the other left alone, What heartbreak you go through my friend I do understand and hear you. Blessings John, Jennifer.

When my wife died I spent seven years living alone. So, I relate. Then, last year, I had an accident, and my daughter insisted I employ a carer. Things are better now. Great poem.

Love this John such a tender and loving piece, hoping for someday to reunite with the love of your life. I wrote one Heartfelt Goodbye which is how I would feel loosing my wife. You have already experienced this Loss. You will see her again someday John. This one is a favorite because it tells a story of love for your wife and the hope of seeing her again. Wonderfully written and a heartfelt write. God bless you for sharing my friend...
