A Hobbit Fantasy
Hobbits sought refuge in the great house
of their creator Tolkien.
Within a unicorn played with a mouse;
outside the fog gave way to rain.
While hobbits scurried to prepare a feast,
a fence on the beach gave way.
But in Tolkien’s walls merriment never ceased
and Gandalf had little to say.
For all who live in fantasy,
happiness is easier to find.
Humans can share the ecstasy
if to outside forces they remain blind.
A sheltered life protects the heart;
life is simpler in fantasyland.
Hobbits and humans live worlds apart,
but both benefit from a helping hand.
“Still round the corner there may wait,
a new road or a secret gate.”
Perhaps just in the realm called fantasy
would a hobbit/human world come to be.
