A Heart Can Only Hope
I’ve gazed into my reflection
Watching my smile’s demise
I shook the thoughts of the implausible
The feelings of breaking inside
I prayed for the light yet the shade consumed the shine
So I cried within this soul of mine
Fighting to remain and maintain dry eyes
I don’t understand this plight
Exhausted for asking why
I was taught that there’s someone for everyone
I believe mine had left this life
When my late wife expired
I’m okay with it right now
Yet right now is barely sometimes
So I breathe and smile
I stand on my head if it’s upside down
I pray, hope, believe that one day I will be able to give my heart that an awesome woman will receive and complete possibly smile back and be friendly
It’s beyond a dream, hoping for this searching is done if it happens then “wow” I just want that chance to keep whomever she may be wearing a grin and as it touches her eyes-resurrect my smile again.
