A Gorilla Contemplates His Place In Life
A Gorilla Contemplates His Place in Life
By Elton Camp
Naught but a lowly monkey was me
Till along came brother Charles D
He said that it’s the fittest who survive
I must be fit because I’m still alive
From primordial soup we both arose
But I’m naked and he wore clothes
He needed money to get by
To hold a job, I needn’t try
Vegetation’s good enough for me
A balanced diet was needed by he
All sorts of laws he had to obey
But I can act just about anyway
I can pass my genes without a wife
While Darwin had to endure strife
A horrid future for me, none tell
For when I die, I won’t to go hell
I’m a close cousin of the human race
Few of its tribulations I have to face
I hope not to evolve any more
To assume a life that I’d abhor
