A Glutton

A glutton saw caterpillars
lying on branches like sausage they were
he told himself; “I’m hungry.
Thank God I have here nice sausages”

He picked one and swallowed
and lo! What an itching it gave!
the glutton screamed
he fell down from tree 
no one came to his rescue
as his case is common jest
