A Gentle Prod

When athletics have no consequence,
The long jump and high jump make no sense,
You can still leap ten feet,
Even hurdle a street,
If you lean on an electric fence.

That is so funny Lindsay & could only be written by someone that's lived in the country. I tried to introduce it when I was teaching, but I had no luck. Kind regards----John

Hello John... I've touched one or two John and they taught me a lesson. If I could only time the touch between the pulsing all would have been well - thanks mate - Lindsay

G'day Jerry... yes Jerry; in the form of a cattle prod maybe. A remarkable inoffensive looking stick with the same effect - thanks mate - Lindsay

Great title! Quite different from the usual Pond. This surely beats a sermon. Of all the things why an electric fence, beats me...lol!

G'day Kim... electric fences are inoffensive looking strands of wire that can stir the unexpected victim into extraordinary feats; basically there to keep livestock contained. I have unwittingly touched a couple and reacted as if given a prod - Lindsay

I wouldn't call that a "gentle prod" Lindsay! A good limerick, made me laugh. As for my poem "Summer Storm", you are a very perceptive reader, especially with the last line. Wonder how many other Soupers will catch it? Thanks again for the support. Best to you way down under. /M

From experience Maurice, the prod is gentle but the reaction is massive. Its a pleasure to read your wise words - Lindsay

G'day Duke... I dare say there could be quite a few titles for an experience like this. The Starters Gun could be another one - thanks Duke - Lindsay

AAAAARGH! Reminds me of our bunch of loonies returning from a trip to the seaside, and we had to stop as somebody needed to take a leak, and in the dark did so onto an electric fence. Am enjoying your Limericking, Laurie. regards, Viv. PS- check out Suzanne Delaney, if you haven't already- she's a fellow Antipodean.

G'day Viv... watched a youtube of two pigs making love before backing into an electric fence. I've been in contact with Suzanne. Had a few incidents with old shocko myself - Lindsay
