Notes About The Poem
This is not a true story but have had a few incidents similar like this in my life. All you can do is get yourself up, dust yourself off and play it as a funny situation or you planned it.
A Funny Thing Happened On the Way
A funny thing happened on the way
to visit a friend few blocks away.
I hopped on my bike and zoomed down on a not so busy street.
It always gives me a thrill to ride as fast as I could.
Feeling the air rush past me with the lightest of touch.
A group of friends were on the sidewalk laughing together.
I heard one of them yell my name.
I turned back, I waved and let out a small giggle.
In moments, I was bouncing off rear end of a parked car.
As I laid sprawled out behind its rear bumper,
my friends ran over giggling and asked if I was alright.
My pride was bruised, though I made an effort not to show it.
It was like being ran over by a speeding train.
