A Friendly Hello
Pangs of loneliness isolate your heart,
leaving you feeling crestfallen and low.
And as yesterday fades, dreams drift apart,
merging with the shadows of tomorrow.
Depression curbs any reason to smile,
you begin to believe that you're a misfit.
And self-pity leaves you feeling hostile,
though it's not something you care to admit.
Lacking self-confidence feeds frustration;
while forced to walk anxiety's tightrope.
And tears add to your humiliation,
washing away the last remnants of hope.
But in the tone of a friendly hello,
through tears, you catch a glimpse of a rainbow.
