Pangs of loneliness devastate your heart,
leaving you frustrated and feeling low.
And memories merge as days drift apart,
morphing into shadows of tomorrow.
Depression dulls your appetite to smile,
and you start to believe you're a misfit.
For, self-pity has you feeling hostile,
though it's not something you care to admit.
Drained of every dream and aspiration,
you're made to walk anxiety's tightrope.
And tears add to your humiliation,
washing away any remnants of hope.
But in response to a friendly hello
your tears dry, and you can see a rainbow.
