A Four Way Stop

Always great fun at an intersection With only a four way stop You start, he starts, it's him no it's me Nose to nose, where's a cop You glare, he glares, nothing's solved It boils down to a battle of wits Like kids arguing over a colourful pull toy “That's mine! No, it's mine!” and you sit Even the ear shattering sound of horns Has no effects on this yahoo! All hell breaks loose, 8 guys get out And a bloody fist fight ensues! Standing back I watch the proceedings Grown men acting like jerks Get back in my car, I drive around it all It's not worth being late for work Four way stops are becoming quite rare In this fast paced world we live in The days of civility have all been replaced When nobody's willing to give in © Jack Ellison 2013

a fun poem about an annoying thing. i hate 4 way stop signs and you've very cleverly described exactly how it feels to be in one! (i've never had a fight, but was in an accident in one once...)

True Jack. Your last line sums it all. Hope Soupers are not prone to this jerks business at a four way stop! JM

It truly ain't worth it my friend! Eventually, cooler heads have to prevail... but not before some nastiness! I'm retired so I've got lots of time to let these guys fight it out! LOL Jack

Excellent write on a topic we all experience on a daily basis. I think courtesy is a dying asset . Not sure where you stay, but here in S.A.-- we have people with absolutely no road etiquette at all.

We don't have that problem, here... near Troll Lake... They start to fuss at each other and Dragon gives them a little snort of you know what! Then... they run back to their cars and quickly get out of there... together... and nicely! Dragon got an accomadation from the police! He's even sought after for the school time patrol... Keeps all those cars minding the rules when they go past the schools! Gee! Always knew he was good for something! He walks the little ones home, too! It's so cute!
