A Few Things I Have Learned
If you become too deceptive or misleading,
be candid and upright, for you shall prevail.
When it is really affection you are needing,
make spreading love your nonfictional tale.
For life is hard enough when faith is gone,
so, to things of epic hope may you be drawn.
If life throws you avocados, make guacamole,
many people seem to be happy eating just that.
Stay authentic and may your soul stay holy,
for transgressions can be a deceitful doormat.
Your feet must enter a threshold with grace
so that all life’s good things you can embrace.
Bring yourself down when conceit is too high,
you may become arrogant and not even realize.
Vanity may bring joy, yet in the end make you cry,
so be modestly humble, don’t tell pomposity lies.
Pride can overshadow your desire to do good,
please make sure your humility is understood.
Bestow onto others your complete adoration,
for those who revere you are definitely deserving.
May you always bring to them delighted elation,
I guarantee their love for you will be unswerving.
Be kind and gentle with all that your hands touch…
and don’t forget to use God as your only crutch.
