A Father Is

A father is a model to his son.

To his little girl, he is her first love.

Boys with bad dads can often come undone.

A father is a model to his son.

Woe to the girl whom a dad chose to shun.

What she needed most she got little of.

A father is....and then....sometimes....he isn't. Andrea you took both edges of the sword to this theme. The triolet form and its repetition framed it nicely.

Amen to that my friend. A girl usually picks a man who reminds hr in many ways of her dad. If she has no role model to look for she usually doesn't do too well. Great job here. Good luck on the contest. God Bless, JB

Andrea, this is honestly beautiful! My sons are men in their own rights and we do relate well, but with my daughters and granddaughters, it a "Louisville Slugger" in one hand, an axe handle in the other and a sword held in the teeth!! :-) Yes!!! Proudly overprotective!!! :-)

I miss my father - he died about 6 and a half years ago. He taught music and loved poetry - especially the Romantics. This poem is kind of sweet! Please let me know what you think of Paranoid Vistas! I went over to Poets House today - they are having a showcase and a poetry walk soon! I intend to go to both.
