A Dream Within Reality

It's only a dream
sweet and sensuous
delectably delicious
tantalizing and tempting to the taste
oh, to indulge in opulence
to revel and feel
the surreal
but...
it's only a dream

Only a dream within reality
such luxuriant love
is what legends are made of
embellished every one
exaggerated expression
but legends languish
in the ordinary
no, it can't be real
it's only a dream

But I can dream.

You nailed it with that last line! Aren't dreams just realities-in-the-making? I love your use of alliteration in this one... gosh... can't believe I've been missing out on all these writes for a year now :(

(Just to explain) You wrote about how few of your older poems get read...SO after seeing that, I went into my old stash of typed poems and reposted that, bc none of the newer Soupers had read it. (newer meaning 2012 and on, or so) So thanks for the inspiration to do that!. TAKE care!

DREAMS are my favorite subject to write about! Your poem reminds me of one of my top 5 writers of all time Maynard James Keenan! That is high praise of HIGH PRAISE Sister! I keep a steno next to my bed and write my dreams as fast as I can, until I can't hold my pee any longer, EVERY morning. You wanna talk about some weird writing!!! CRAZY! YEs Eileen, You CAN DREAM!~ Hey, your comment on my poem was uplifting! I posted that poem bc of something I read in a recent poem by you.

Yes - you can dream. Dreams are sometimes sweet. I sometimes dream while I'm awake. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day... Lucy

Embrace those dreams. Embrace the opulence of tomorrow's end result. Excellent.

Dreams are the sweetest things. When life is hard and days are long, when feeling that you don't belong, when stolen is your joyful song ...DREAM! :) See, that just came out of me as I was typing this post. You inspire me! Hugs

Dear Eileen, we seem to spend many of our waking hours trying to turn the dreams you describe so well into reality. An extraordinary poem. Love and blessings, Carolyn

Again, thank you for what you said about my poems, I am happy you enjoyed them that much, am all smiles still! You are brilliant with how you put your heart in your words, and I also enjoy reading your poems, dreaming with you on this one. Sorry though if I'm not able to read and comment as much on your writes. I have really been curbing my activities here for some time now although yup, that's been out the window lately, oops!

NIKKO! You have to keep writing. Really...surely there must be something that can take a back seat to this. How could you let such passion go? I'm going to be a nag. Ok Ok...will be away for two weeks, but when I come back. I would to read two NEW poems by you. A poem a week! Not bad!

Hmm, oftentimes, I feel like I am dreaming within this reality, hard to explain, I was even talking about this with my sister the other day. I think it's important that we have these dreams in our lives, and right on about your last line, very good way to end this poem. See? Even with this one, the sensuous side of you comes out! Yup, since we're dreaming, why not make it sweet and sensuous! Btw, I could be wrong, but I think there's a missing r in surreal.

Poe would KILL me for switching his dream within a dream thing. I love that guy! Nikko, thank you for this sweet post. Everything for me is romance and sensuality! I know...too much! I guess I'm wired funny! Thanks for checking out the spelling mistake. Love you for it. Please...stop talking to your sis and start writing!!! ;) Hugs

Without dreams ,life would be an endless journey on an infinite scourging desert without ever finding an oasis to rest for to carry on your voyage! So, keep dreaming, my dearest poetess Eileen, in that way you beautify life! A dream of a writing!

I love it when I wake up from a really good dream, then fall back to sleep and it continues. Of course, that can also work with really bad ones. Your imagery is dreamy, sweetie. Excellent! Jim
