A Dentist Visit

Off to the dentist’s office today.
I have a tooth that is having its say.
He says he can’t fix it for another month
I left his office after saying, “hurrumph!”
The tooth was capped without a canal
It has been perfectly all right until now.
A root canal is apparently in my future
It appears I won’t need a frontal suture.
He says the tooth is beginning to abcess
I’ll take some antibiotics or be in distress.
Nothing quite like it to ruin my day
Is it the pain? Or the bill I’ll have to pay?

Caren Krutsinger July 26, 2021 at 2:54 PM Weirdly enough, my girlfriend is in the same boat. Her dentist is waiting for infection to go down - her tooth was capped without a root canal too. I had never heard of it before today, and now I have heard of it twice. Weird huh? I hope it settles down fast. L Milton Hankins July 26, 2021 at 4:13 PM Me, too. In fact, I didn't know they capped a tooth without doing a root canal. But, what do I know about dentistry? I do know infection in the teeth can be very, very dangerous. My son's aunt didn't take her antibiotics and the infection spread into her brain and killed her. It was tragic, and so preventable!

Tom L Milton Hankins July 26, 2021 at 1:44 PM It hasn't really started throbbing yet, Tom, so I have some time, and I started taking the antibiotics as soon as I got home. Amazing how much time in advance you need to get an appointment to see a dentist or doctor these days. I walked in today and was lucky they just had a patient arriving late, so they looked at my tooth, took an x-ray, etc. I was really lucky!
