A single white rose bloomed near the grave stone, Swaying in breeze against dark cloud and rain, In the vast churchyard she stood all alone, To brighten resting place of his remain, Smiling to say he did not die in vain! Martyred at the age of twenty seven, Her lover, he now serves in heaven, In May she rises to be by his grave, From very ground she perished grief driven, To show her love for him, he who died brave!
