A Cornish Sonnet For the New Year
The past is gone, let’s start again:
this year could be the best we’ve seen,
so draw a line beneath old pain,
just let the love infuse your soul,
release your anger - don’t be mean -
and make a year of love your goal.
Now close your eyes and take my hand:
old ghosts will leave if laid to rest.
I have to make you understand:
to give up now would be a crime;
our love can grow and pass the test
of time. My heart is in this rhyme.
The past is gone, let’s start again:
now close your eyes and take my hand…
