A Common Sense Plea
Wouldn’t you be willing to give up your AR-15
For one little, innocent kid’s life in your hometown?
Then, why not give it up for 19 children in Uvalde?
Firepower in single round pistols provide protection
From home invasion or a shoot-out in public, agreed,
Since it takes only one bullet to silence a maniac.
If you cannot hit the target with one well-placed shot
Are you really equipped to be firing an assault rifle?
I keep hearing “Guns don’t kill people,” but they do!
Guns, in the hands of a few deranged people, kill
Guns in the hands of innocent children kill children
Accidentally, to be sure, but accidentally dead is dead.
But, if they had no gun, they could not kill, period!
A knife couldn’t have made its way into that classroom.
And please do not tell me automobiles kill, too,
I’ve never seen an automobile in a school hallway.
I do not want your hunting rifle or shotgun, please!
I have no problem with target practicing for sport
Until I gave up my pistol, I used it to combat beavers,
But the very idea of weapons manufactured for war
Finding their way into the hands of unstable teens
Is repugnant to me. They should be banned, period!
When assault rifles no longer exist in our country, we
Will have no more school or nightclub mass shootings.
