A Change I Would Like To See

A complex world we've made this earth;
     our times more difficult today,
because our globe has surely shrunk
     with messaging seconds away.

In olden days, it took a week
to see newsreels on movie screens.
Today, disaster comes to us
now streaming live by high-tech means.

So easy now to plan bad deeds,
     recruit for vicious terror acts,
with 'social media' on 'Net,
attacks planned well with instant facts.

Free speech and privacy are rights,
but we must stop this insane source
that opens highways to attack
     with real-time gatherings of force.

Much training for those terrorists
     is done through Internet pathways.
To close this doorway, if we could,
might thwart the spread of evil ways.

I concur with the sentiment and enjoyed the read, Sandra. I do question whether it should be 'if they could' or 'if we could'? (last stanza, 3rd line) My brain is tired so I'm not even sure! You summed this problem/fear up beautifully, who do we send it to for immediate action? (I wish) All the best ... CayCay

I have often had this same thought. It is much to easy to plot, plan and create evil. This Tech world we live in, invites and recruits....and our access to media, incites and pokes a sleeping wanna-be! Sigh..... So frightening....but unstoppable !!

Mrs Sandra, I'm right there with you on this one. When I think of all of the positive things that could be accomplished with technology and yet we seem to find more uses for evil. Very well written and an enjoyable read.

I agree Sandra. They don't usually find out the threats untill after the fact when it is much too late to save lives. Well written thoughts to ponder. 7 ; )
