A Catchy New Slogan

Remember the slogan 'No Child Left Behind' The current school year's been so cruel, so unkind The slogan's changed its mind... Rather than teach classes in dread Schools decreed: 'No child gets ahead'

Enjoyed your juxtaposition of slogans. This is a great comparison. This whole thing has been a disaster. After almost a year, my kids will finally be back in school next month.... but for only two days a week. Remember when it started with just a two week quarantine?

...the "no child left behind" movement only meant the "no child could get ahead" lest he/she somehow "shame" those who couldn't keep up..

Yikes, you've nailed the essence of the 'no child left behind' movement, i.e., that it didn't let kids get ahead. Brilliant insight into Why the Emperor Didn't Wear Clothes, John. Kudos, Gershon

I feel so bad for the students, especially the ones in their senior year who miss out on all the activities that are such a right of passage.

I'm with you, Richard. Can't imagine how I ever would have made it through life without having participated in 'Senior Ditch Day,' for example... Somehow, I'm more worried about kindergardeners and first-graders trying to sit in one place and stare at a screen for hours. Crazy! :) gw
