A Callie Cat Tanka

taken to the pound
by folks who did not want her
Callie Cat escaped. . . 
instinct had led her back to 
where tribulation trumped death

sickly and skinny
Callie Cat scraped by until
a chance encounter. . .
how sweet the day my daughter
came home with a calico!

the cat who once lived
a natural life outside
grew happy and plump. . .
eighteen years she ruled our hearts -
the indoor queen of our home

Phyllis Babcock August 20, 2014 at 1:17 PM Our youngest was always bring pets home for the summer from school. No one to look after them for the summer so we had extra pets but thank goodness they did not stay and I think our dog was glad to see them go. love phyl

Daver Austin April 22, 2014 at 10:28 AM I'm happy about Callie. Outdoor cats don't do well at all. For instance, there is a stray cat - a huge gray male - who comes up on the porch to feed. His left eye looks as if it has been put out entirely. So much disease out there boot. I'm going to ask Bev if we can't try to catch the gray and take it to the vet. Love, daver
