A Brighter Tomorrow
When lies and mistrust
infect a relationship
it falters, becomes weak,
and eventually dies.
The pain of its passing
guides your thoughts,
taking you to the brink
of despair.
A river of trickling tears
slowly gathers in strength,
as the hurt lingers
within your broken heart.
Though time is gentle,
the hurt is real...
And you struggle with feelings
of helplessness,
in the face of love lost.
Sometimes...
reality is non-responsive
to the wishes and dreams
that fills our sails.
And when love slips into a lull
the winds of hope fail to blow,
and so you get stuck
in yesterday's shadow,
unable to see the light
of a brighter tomorrow,
shining just beyond
today’s horizon.
