A Brave Soul
Blindly he came forward.
Called out from the crowd.
He felt awkward, not knowing
for what purpose the call came.
He had come to feed his brothers,
soldiers in the King's army,
men of strength and courage.
Feeding them required no armor,
sword, or shield.
Noticing that the cry was to fight
He reasoned that his youth exempted him
from subscribed service.
But why was everyone afraid?
Across the valley bellowed a challenge.
Pick one man! Come and fight.
Winner take all!
How tall a foe! He was only waist high
to this giant.
Were all the soldiers cowards?
God had helped him fight off a Lion.
He was the protector of sheep.
An under shepherd,
he knew the Shepherd.
Armed with faith, he felled the
giant with a pebble.
All Israel later declared him
King.
