Dedicated to Darren White

I never know which way to turn per se Enhanced emotions flooding to the top My lifestyle once was simpler than it's now Gone are those years of equilibrium Shades of the night now blending into day Those tears for joy now stranger to my cheek I shuffle while the world moves on full speed Fading faces giving advice to heed But I have only feet for regret street Down on the boulevard of broken dreams "Hope is a wickless candle" I once read Though I must hold hope closely to my heart With faith for me to be the air to breathe For life without both is a shallow pond Imagine if you will a fishless sea A birdless sky, a world animal scarce

Already there are fewer birds and we are in a migration zone, no wild honey bees this year, and one or two monarchs seen. Your poem underscores what my eyes have not seen.

Good Evening White Wolf. I did not know what I would read before turning the page. Please allow me to let your brilliant and well expressed words and thoughts stand. There is nothing I could ever add to this. You state it all. Allow me however to say may Darren and us all never see or experience a birdless sky ever. The title is excellent. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful night. Just beautiful

"wickless candle" great expression. I say hope is a fool's paradise. Same thing:) I related deeply with this soulful write. One of your best IMO. Very contemplative write, WW. Great job!

I found parts of myself in this poem WW. It has a profound message for those younger who may think age will never catch up to them. Lines like "Those tears for joy now stranger to my cheek" just brilliant! : )

This really is great Wolf. I am surprised that you were surprised at the interest in it. It invokes images and contemplation. If I may be a little critical, I would rework the 3rd line. That contraction doesn't fit. Awesome poem! - Dean

Before it was "I once knew a more simplistic lifestyle" but the iambic pentameter was all wrong! But you are right, it needs more work! Thank you for pointing that out, Dean /|\
