A Promise
Some roads are full of surprises,
Others sorrow.
What fun is it,
If you always take the one you know,
If you plan your ways,
For a thousand tomorrows?
Live in today,
For tomorrow is centuries away.
Leave your worries behind,
Let them be mine.
I’ll show you the way to live
I’ll show you what I believe.
I’ll show you all I have seen,
And take you to where I have been.
I’ll show you wonder after wonder
Fly you up into the sky
And then dive you right down under
Into the vast ocean of sapphire blue.
I’ll shield you from life’s thunder
And kiss away all your frowns.
I’ll make you a princess,
With snow-white feathers for a dress
And big, bright yellow sunflowers for a crown.
Come and take my hand,
I won’t let it end.
This is a promise I’ll never break,
And new, better ones will always be in the make.
