A9
I took the car out
on a gloomy evening
& drove along
the A9
people busy
with farming &
harvesting before
the heavy
rain
cattle
being taken home
before the
nightfall
boys naughty
flying their kites
up in the sky
still
crazy, crazy, crazy
buses
drove faster
passing my
lazy car
hot, hot, hot
hoppers being burnt
& served & shared
by two of two
wayside trees
big, huge, gigantic
weren't to be seen
where had they
been
the lake filled
with water fresh
made room to fish both
the day & night
a candle's
being lit to honor
a hero dead
for us a long time ago
- The A9 Highway is a 321-kilometer-long (199 mi) highway in Sri Lanka, which connects the central city of Kandy with Jaffna, a city on the northern tip of the island. Due to the battle, which took place for nearly 30 years it got damaged. As a result, people were unable to use it. Just after the battle, it was re-opened. People have the opportunity to use it as they wish. A9 is believed to be the symbol of unity & friendship.
