A, B, C--or All of the Above
(A) Optimist exults, “Life’s a delight. All is bright.”
(B) Pessimist groans, “Life’s totally dark; all is stark.”
(C) Realist declares, “What is life? Both joy and strife.”
These labels that get tossed about are far too cut-and-dried,
and when we fail to act in keeping with the one applied
to us—perhaps since we were kids—we cause close scrutiny.
If “Optimist” feels sad, he is accused of mutiny.
I’m sometimes A, I have been B, but basically I’m a C!
