The Gold Scarf
The Gold Scarf
It’s colors are red and gold.
Blending together in a wild design; like a dream.
I hold it soft, against my cheek.
And watch it’s pattern in the light.
Tonight I retrieved it from the branch;
Where I had left it,
And for a moment talked to him.
Just nonsense words; about empty things.
Then he was gone. Gone like Plato,
Back to Hades, Lost forever in the night.
Lord never let me love again,
The hurt's to great, the reward to small.
Gold scarf remind me;
Of the happy times
When we laughed.
When he looked at me;
The way only he could.
Remind me of what could have been,
If we’d traveled down another road.
Gold Scarf.
