Sometimes we just need a friend to hold us up, like a vine on a garden wall, not to speak but to listen and catch us if we fall. ~ by poet Whenever trouble follows my every move and tongues wag at me as if to disapprove all of the things I have done or didn't do, you are the one person who sees me through. You are like a sturdy vine growing on a wall, the reason why I never crumble and fall, the staunch ally whose arms keep me standing when tragedy's mandates are too demanding. A smile from you when you hold my hand makes it clear that you really do understand that what I need most then is for you to listen when tears flowing from my eyes begin to glisten. You are the friend who always keeps me strong when hardships in my life go miserably wrong. We support each other so neither of us will fall. You are the flowering vine on my garden wall.

Lin, I think this poem captures the essence of life. We all do need friends and having them makes our lives much better and more meaningful than a stupendous bank account. Out culture seems to prefer the latter. Smiles!

I grew up happy and with few material things. Thinking of the Beatles, I get by with a little help from my friends. Thank you.

A beautiful poem Lin, listening is a difficult skill to master, but that is one of the many qualities of a good friend, regardless of what's happening in their own lives they make time to listen, just listen to you, I especially loved the last line " You are the flowering vine on my garden wall." Your friend, Danny

Dear Linnersz, This heartfelt poem that emanates sincere gratitude and warmth truly made me tear up. Such friends are rare and precious, when all but dark and cold and when the world turns against us, its just those few special ones that see beyond whats painted about us, and they are to be celebrated with poems like this right here youv woven in such a soulful manner! And i love the picture too. Ah to be a rose with no thorns in ones garden to be the scent that warms their soul, is what i long for too! This is stunning! Best wishes! Sending you light always! Pleasure reading as always

Ink, Is a rose without a thorn, a rose? I say, 'yes,' if that rose willingly rids itself of thorns to allow a friend to get near. You are such a flower that blooms when a friend needs you. They are few, rare and very precious to be that stable crutch when needed for leaning. Thank you for your kind words and the kindness of being my friend.
