Extermination

I stand indifferent to rat-nosed Time who gnaws, I stride oblivious to Time’s laws, His ravenous, remorseless years’ assault. The rat’s teeth sink. Then halt. My leg withstands, impervious to fangs of Time. Acknowledging that rodent is a crime. The vermin soon is mashed beneath my heel To grease. There—hearken to his squeal.
