These aren't the same as the old pair of socks but are similar in colour....I'm going to try to be extra good and maybe Santa will let me have some new ones at Christmas lol

I WISH I'D LEARNED TO SEW I wish I’d learned to sew My mother asks me how How I’ve survived till now… I tell her I don’t know I’m feeling so forlorn My socks got old and worn So I’ve thrown them in the bin I cannot take it in And yes I know how cold my toes will be Those socks were so lovely Now my feet feel so chilly I'm sad my darning skills have let me down And now my feet are icy (Original lyrics were written by Don Mclean) ****** A tribute to my penguin socks I’ve walked all over you, but that’s all in the past I knew that our relationship wasn’t strong enough to last You’d always been part of a matching pair But the thinning fabric I can no longer repair I’m finding it extremely difficult to finally let go But the hole in my heel was just too huge to sew I’ve had this pair of socks for about 4 years thye were my absolute favourite ones and had cute penguins on the them… but the threads were so worn so thin they have disintegrated and yesterday my heel went through and they cannot be repaired and are now confined to the waste bin … its poetic licence about not being able to sew as I have mended them many times in the past 11-16-17

lol I love that comment Agnes and my tooties are no longer toast so yes I do feel a massive sense of loss lol. Seriously, its amazing how something so insignificant can inspire me to write a ditty about it, in fact we were out for a walk when I got inspired and I had to keep stopping to get the lines written down:-) hugs jan xx

Save your socks, how long have they kept your tootsies warm? So you will not forget have your camera set, a click perhaps a few. Send Santa a note, stating foot size, color blue, and a wish from you. Hoping like your socks once did fit your feet this poem fits this too!..... PS: Loved your lyric, and I'm sending Santa a note too I wana pair for the Mrs of course haha,!

I feel the twilight zone music come into my head, yes we did take a pic but I won't post it on soup lol. I've browsed the web and can't find the exact ones I had but I'm sure i can go on ebay and find some suitable replacements but get 2 or 3 pairs so they don't get worn out so quickly:-) hugs jan xx

This may sound like something crazy...but if you are attached to those socks, you could frame them, or at least get a good picture of them and frame that, I know that sounds crazy, but I'm sentimental too, and I have a soft spot for things that mean a lot to me and my friends and family! I hope you can find a pair just like them...have you tried ebay? They might have one pair that is the same, you never know until you try! I loved this terrific poem my friend! Great Work Jan!!

I have taken a pic lol I know its kind of a sad thing but I'd had them for about 5 years so they were like faithful old friends. i will find some replacement penguin socks and get several pairs so i don't suffer the same loss lol:-) hugs jan xx

Yes, I am a hoarder I can't bear to part with something even when its past its best - good job hubby has't got rid of me... yet lol:-) hugs jan xx

I can't believe my socks finally gave up after all this time but one was so threadbare my heel went through it when I put it on today so with regret they have been binned. I am so glad i read your poem yesterday it was such fun:-0 hugs jan xx

lol Anne Lise at RIP socks, its so funny how attached we get to a certain item - when we were in Italy I got a new pot to put used tea bags into as the other one was cracked with old age but it was a real wrench to get rid of it as hubby had had it for many years.:-) hugs jan xx

I'm gutted about the socks I adore penguins and have a lot of penguinalia but these are so threadbare my heel went through the bottom and they are beyond economical repair:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks Mike, I only remember Andy William's version and I understand Elvis also sang it but it wasn't until I googled I found Don Mclean had written the song :-) hugs jan xx
