A Winter's Illusion

I watched the snow fall In silent profusion, Creating such beauty, A winter's illusion. A land so serene All quilted with snow, A vision of peace So no-one would know. That hid 'neath this landscape, This winter facade, Some forgo the beauty For winter is hard. Little things sleep Beneath frozen hedgerows, While up in the trees Red squirrels doze. And there they will stay Till winter is done, Then wake from their slumber, To welcome the Sun.
