Working in the garden The sun is on the wane and it is approaching evening Down by the garden fence I throw some compost Hear something that moves slowly Wonder what it might be I stand for a while as quiet that I can be Out of the leaves comes a small nose protruding Who are you I wonder Weird, funny sounds I hear Slowly comes my garden guest out of the leaves Rolling round, small cute feet, pink little nose and a body full of spikes Such a cute hedgehog you are You are very welcome in my garden 02.06.2012 A-L Andresen :) Copyright © All Rights Reserved

Oh how beautifully written. I have two feeders in my back yard and love to see the cardinals, squirrels, doves and woodpeckers love the suet I put out too. Okay,...the craziest thing happened in my back yd this evening,...then I tho't of U! A 15 pound ground hog started digging holes everywhere! 3 at my fence and one under my shed...Help me dear if he is really a she and she is pregnant!!! Yikes!! hahah. I have never seen a wild hedgehog except, I believe it was on the sidewalk in Chicago. It was walking down the street like it owned the town. Such a fond memory you brought back to me from 55 years ago. Thank you.

Anne Lise...you told that story so poetically and suspenseful...of course I tho't it was gonna be a whiley wabbit! I bo't my son a hedgehog years ago and it makes a great pet. We had a cage that looked like a hotel...We even put him in a gerbil ball and let him run all over the house...They are so peaceful...Great write. Love, Gwendolen

Iloved this... and written at the right time. My son came home from college for the summer with a pet hedgehog. I'd never seen one in life before. They are not native to where I live.
