After Christmas Day
The
day after
Christmas, there
was only a tree. Presents
had been opened and put away.
Candy canes were devoured, one by one.
Yes, sugar plum fairies had left; no more fun.
Quiet children were happy and still liking their gifts.
Leftover turkey with veggies made an auspicious soup.
The fudge brownies had been eaten and so was the apple pie.
Meanwhile old folks still reminisced about many Christmases gone by.
After Christmas day, when all was said and done, it was still a happy time
Eyes
sparkled
