A street beat… no, a clave/ not just one, but a chorus of Cuban souls, whispering stories of sun-drenched streets/ sugar cane rum, and women of the streets/ Conga lines in the neighborhood/ Fidel Castro and baseball/
Mongo Santamaria, Chucho Valdes, and Perez Prado/
rumba and rebellion, history in their pulse/ then a horn… a bebop improv scale, dizzying jazzy freedom dance, a saxophonist's dream, Charlie Parker's ghost in the melody's endless stream/
a jazz note held to a prayer's whisper, Man, so complex, so real/
John Coltrane's Love Supreme/ But wait… the future shimmers, a Latin fusion, Latin rap, Daddy Yankee, Bodega Bamz, and DJ Nelson/
helped blend Latin rap into Hip Hop culture, now Synthesizers sing where trumpets used to hold/
A jazz fest woven, the lineup is way bold/
this is more than music, it’s a revelation, my friend/ get hip to the trend/
a sonic landscape, without end/
long listening jam sessions, a journey to meditation to indicate something deeper/
so dig this: let it fuel your creative fire, let it ignite your mind to a Stevie Wonder Higher/
Yo bro/ forget the mundane, man, get hip/ get wit it/ the beat in your mind will ignite a vibrant show glow/
a sophisticated, high-energy flow, setting the ambiance… watch it grow/
(Beat change, more urgent, hip-hop infused) But hold on, rewind the turntable, a beat tape's on a rewind call/
a different vibe, standing proud and tall/ Hip-hop bleeds through, answering the call/ Cool, cool Hip hop, cool, dig it man, cool is the rule/
like a Tribe Called Quest kool/
the first beat drops like a hammer on the vinyl spin, a boom-bap slap, Stetsasonic echoes through the club's shadow land/
on a digital spin/
NY, Chi, and LA riding high on the Hip Hop Rap, on the day-to-day vibe/
Schooly D's swagger, Ultramagnetic trap, Naughty by Nature, no time to nap/ A Tribe Called Quest, smooth and sublime, Ice Cube spitting fire, conquering time, Pete Rock crafting beats, a lyrical climb/
This ain't no trend, no fleeting scene, this is the real pouring from the hip-hop heads wearing rappers threads/ the true believers, the rhyme reciters, the beat achievers, the spiters of word funk/ even the hip hop atomic dog barks out Rottweiler speak/
yo, every day yo/ this is the definition of the solidness of Hip Hop's social climb/ to fashion, media, PR, movies, pimps to Ice-T’s Law and Order fame
the rhythm's your guide, Cuban cool or Latin rap/ or a Hip Hop rapper's delight/
You decide, or fill in the blanks, man,
Let it resonate/ you’ll get hip to it in time
